ABOUT the Casio Sampler was quite ahead in its time: it was cheap and it had 16bit. the FZ1 (same as Hohners only sampler HS1 in germany) was the first reasonable 16bit-mono sampler. some additive synthesis on board, quite nice.. and cheap those days.. the cheapst samplers - more toys were the SK keyboards (sk1, sk7)
ABOUT Casios Sampler war damals recht fortschrittlich und 16bit, wo andere noch 12bit hatten..

DETAILS its disc drive wrote 1.6MB on one disc, thats a lot, also it's envs were very cool: 8stage loops with conditions for ultra complex loops, also additve static spectrum generation and drawing of new waveforms.
Sample time: 14,5 sek. at 36kHz/16bit with 1MB.

DETAILS sein Laufwerk brachte 1.6MB auf eine Diskette, sehr speziell also, dazu hatte er 8fache Loop-Funktionen, was sehr aufwendig war seinerzeit. Es gab additive (statische) Synthese und Welleform Zeichen-Tools an Bord.

Casios debut was the CZ series (the so called Cosmo Synthesizer) with Phase Distortion, very close to FM but modulating the Phase instead of the Frequency. They also came up with a 16Bit Sampler with quite a lof of Features at that time and the next generation of PD called iPD: the VZ series also sold under the name of Hohner (germany). after that no real synthesizer was ever made, looked a lot like Casio couldn't get rid of their image of the "cheap" which wasn't true at all in terms of sound. A and don't forget the VL1 (Trio - DaDaDa) mini calculator/synth which is "very Casio"!

THE MANUFACTURER
Casios Synthesizerzeit begann mit dem "Cosmo Synthesizer", der CZ Serie und nutzte dabei 8stufige Time-Level Hüllkurven. Die Phasenverzerrung genannte Synthese ist der FM nicht unähnlich und wurde mit der VZ Serie als iPD noch verfeinert und durch einen der ersten bezahlbaren Stereo Sampler FZ1 erweitert. Auch er hatte einige sehr interessante Features. Die zweite Generation wurde auch unter dem Hohner-Namen verkauft. Danach hörte man von Casio als ernstzunehmendem Synthesizerhersteller nichts mehr.
